Traditions

Traditions bring people together no matter where you may be in the world. They don’t have to be grand, sometimes small things make a big difference. My family has some weird traditions, and some have a direct connection to my culture.

In my culture, it’s said to believe that eating on the same plate as your loved one, makes the bond stronger between souls and hearts. My family and I, with a huge silver plate, eat together once every Christmas and Diwali. We have each side of the plat dedicated to one of the four of us where we eat what we want. But there’s a catch; you have to eat with your hands, no spoons (unless soup or curry) allowed. One might say that’s to messy, but I say, “some things are worth getting messy over!” ~ Altered quote of Olaf from Frozen 🙂

Every Friday or in this case, as well as every holiday, we sit down and watch a movie together no matter how busy we may be. To start off, it takes at least 45 mins to find a movie we all agree on. In the 45 mins, we fight, we argue, we yell, until finally, we find a movie that makes us all go wow! We make popcorn and enjoy the movie even though my dad asks one too many questions, my mom makes her judgy comments and amongst all of this chatter, my brother finds a way to make a mess. Even though all of this drives me clinically crazy, this is what makes my family special, and I wouldn’t change a thing 🙂

  3. Hi, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your website in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, fantastic blog!

  4. May I simply just say what a relief to find someone who truly understands what they are discussing on the web. You definitely understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people ought to check this out and understand this side of your story. Its surprising you arent more popular because you definitely have the gift.
